BKT participated in the Cambodia Water Industry Delegation to present its innovative wastewater solutions—Co-Flow Campus and twp™—and to explore meaningful opportunities for international collaboration.

Participating in Cambodia Water Industry Delegation
From May 5 to 7, BKT participated in the Cambodia Water Industry Delegation, hosted by the Ministry of Environment and the Korea Water Partnership. During the visit, the company introduced its innovative wastewater treatment solutions—Co-Flow Campus (CFC) and tomorrow water process (twp™)—while exploring local applicability and long-term collaboration opportunities.
Introducing Future-Oriented Wastewater Solutions: CFC and twp™
At the Korea-Cambodia Water Industry Cooperation Forum held in Phnom Penh on May 6, CEO Moonjin Choi presented the concept of the future-oriented wastewater treatment plant, CFC, and the twp™ process optimized for developing countries. Cambodia’s Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology and the Ministry of Public Works and Transport showed strong interest, with the latter expressing its intent to actively review practical cooperation, as it oversees the country’s wastewater treatment operations.
Cambodia’s Growing Demand for Water Infrastructure
Despite maintaining over 6% annual economic growth, Cambodia remains vulnerable to climate change, such as floods and droughts, and still struggles with low water infrastructure coverage—29% for clean water and 47% for sewage systems. Demand for water infrastructure expansion and overall water management is expected to increase significantly.
Identifying Local Needs Through In-Depth Meetings
Through a series of one-on-one meetings during the forum, BKT identified Cambodia’s multiple challenges, including reliance on imported energy, limited available land, shortage of skilled operators, and high operational costs. These challenges translate into a growing demand for energy-generating, space-saving, and cost-efficient technologies with simplified operation. The company reaffirmed that CFC aligns well with these local conditions and offers an optimal solution.
Proposing Sustainable Water Solutions with K-Water Technology
In a business roundtable attended by Korean water companies and local institutions operating in Cambodia, CEO Choi proposed the need for:
- Building landmark wastewater treatment facilities utilizing K-water technologies through ODA.
- Improving domestic water infrastructure regulations that hinder the adoption of new technologies.
Her suggestions were met with broad support from participants.
Looking Ahead: Toward Realizing a CFC in Cambodia
“The delegation visit was a valuable opportunity to clearly understand the needs on the ground and to lay the foundation for future collaboration,” said CEO Choi. “We are currently following up by sharing technical materials with local government agencies and companies. Although it may take time, we look forward to the day when CFC is successfully built in Cambodia.”
